OUR MISSION
Ohana Inhome Daycare, our mission is to integrate developmentally appropriate practices with an emphasis on individualization as well as guiding our students through their developmental years. We provide our children with nutritional and organic food and a space in which they can enjoy nature every day. We recognize the individuality of each child and that all children are creative and have a desire to learn. To achieve our mission, we use a research-based curriculum, organic fresh prepared food, as well as a large backyard where our kids will be able to play and explore in a secure manner.
The first years of a child’s life are an exciting and critical time for development. Young brains are growing more in these years than during other points in life. Our curriculum model capitalizes on these critical years and meets the needs of each child. Based on the latest research in early child development and education, our curriculum does not just focus on WHAT children are learning but HOW they are learning it. We believe HOW we teach the children makes a critical difference in the way they learn.
We offer our families a big backyard in which kids learn to love physical activity. We are firmed believer that every child deserves to be close to nature, not only to develop their motor skills but to learn about science and the importance of preserving and taking care of our environment.
At Ohana we believe that our work can make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families, and so we believe we make a profound and lasting contribution to society.
MEET THE TEAM

Sandra and Cristian Hutecker opened Ohana Inhome Daycare in January 2019.
We are parents of two children, who are now professionals. Our daughter graduated from George Washington University and works in an NGO in Washington DC in the field of International Affairs and Human Rights. Our son graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ) and Harvey Mudd College, California with a Bachiler in Computer Science and is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Computational Science and Engineering in Germany.
Our idea to open a bilingual English-Spanish daycare emerges from our multicultural backgrounds and our travels to many countries in North and South America, and Europe. We firmly believe that children have the capacity to learn multiple languages in the early stages of their development. As an example, our children were fluent in English, German, and Spanish at a very early age.
As a mother, I understand how important selecting and trusting a childcare provider is, as well as ensuring that one’s child gets the best start in life. We currently work together with 3 assistants and have a 3:1 teacher to child ratio.
We pledge to create a safe, fun, and happy place that gives children confidence, a sense of belonging, and a lifelong love of learning, friendship, and community.
